House Judiciary Committee Member Matt Gaetz said Wednesday on “The Story” that there is an “ecosystem of corruption” in Washington surrounding some actions of the DOJ and FBI.
Gaetz said his committee is still asking for documents surrounding the origins of the Trump-Russia probe, and reacted to new texts between Agent Peter Strzok and attorney Lisa Page that reference the FBI “leaking like mad.”
“These were not messages that we received previously,” he said.
Gaetz said the DOJ inspector general, Michael E. Horowitz, is looking into both actions of bureaucrats and actions of the media.
He alleged that some people at the DOJ have tried to “influence public opinion” through some investigatory measures.
Gaetz added that additionally, Horowitz is investigating whether some in the media are offering tickets to sporting events and the like in exchange for stories about the FBI.
“The ecosystem of corruption could go both ways,” he said.
