Matt Gaetz: Impeach Rod Rosenstein

WASHINGTON – Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz is among the 11 Republicans who  introduced a resolution calling for the impeachment of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

“The mountain of evidence against Rod Rosenstein is very compelling when you look at the extent to which documents and witnesses have been withheld,” Gaetz said Wednesday on Fox Business Network.

The Justice Department says the only thing that has been withheld is a list of which Trump associates are under investigation, the Washington Post reported.

It will surprise no one that Gaetz is involved.

The 36-year-old freshman from Fort Walton Beach has been a leading critic of the Russia probe — the “Mueller witch hunt” as he calls it — and asserts, among other things, that the government installed a spy in the Trump campaign, a conclusion disputed by Florida’s top Republican in Washington, Sen. Marco Rubio.

“By the Trump campaign’s own admission, Carter Page was not a big player in their campaign,” Rubio said Sunday on CNN. “I don’t believe that them looking into Carter Page means they were spying on the campaign. I also don’t think it proves anything about collusion or anything like that.”

More here on the resolution, led by Reps. Mark Meadows and Jim Jordan.

Absent from the group, so far, is Freedom Caucus founding member Rep. Ron DeSantis.

House Republican leaders aren’t on board. Democrats called it outrageous.
